It is frustrating (although amusing) but we do need to find ways to educate people on life here in KSA (and the fact that we don't all necessarily look alike)

Welcome to KSA! :)

Even being Saudia I still have 1000s of questions about life/customs here but I am happy to answer those that I can!
-Generally abayas are black, this is a cultural tradition not an Islamic one
-In other countries (UAE or Kuwait) you will find women wearing abayas that have a lot of embroidery and embellishments. In Saudi, it is slightly more complicated. In Jeddah you will see 'fancier' abayas compared to Riyadh where we are more conservative. The general rule is that you should be modest (how each person interprets that is different but the police will heckle those that get carried away)
-Technically a woman's arm should be covered to the wrist (if she is actually wearing hijab for religious reasons not just because it is a legal requirement)

As far as I know you will not find 'Girls of Riyadh' in KSA (it is suppose to be banned)

Zehra: I'm glad that it actually does smell nice, my only complaint is the marketing. The company should just advertise it as light and refreshing and it makes you feel good rather than trying to claim it makes you smell 8 years younger.

The thing that really irks me about this whole situation is that we have so many more pertinent issues which need to be addressed. Where is the moral outrage surrounding domestic violence? Why aren't chat rooms all up in arms about the poverty afflicting people in parts of the country? It is disappointing that people choose to waste so much time and energy fighting something like Metal music simply because they don't understand it. We have a lot of very talented artists, musicians, comics, and writers in Saudi who unfortunately do not get the recognition or support they deserve.

Honestly I just don't know what to say about this guy, clearly he did not think any of this through. I think he got carried away and probably started making stuff up.
I do agree that we have much bigger (and more disgusting/horrific) fish to fry. Sexual abuse, particularly of children, is wide spread. I don't know how to remedy this, but it definitely needs to be discussed!

The messed up shit is that it's still happening and no one says anything about it (no one actually in the country). We love pointing out other countries mistakes and violations but ignore our own.
I guess 'what goes around comes around' it's just a matter of time. :P
