It was! I put olive oil, soy sauce, sea salt and a little sprinkle of
pepper. The soy sauce is what does it for me. I could eat a shoe if
it was marinated in soy sauce.

Like everything in fashion, trends are cyclical. They come and go. I
don't think I'm behind though--I certainly haven't seen any other men
wearing belts to cinch jackets. Moreover, the Third Reich version
cinched military jackets, not sports jackets. So, not the same.

I've given this a fair amount of thought (mainly because I am still awake and sick) to this debate going on in the comments section. I think that people feel entitled to pass judgements on Mary as she's injected herself into a public forum--a lot of Mary's readers see her as a sort of demi-celebrity (I know because once we were out together and a reader got all excited when she saw her as if she'd just seen Angelina Jolie), which always seems to inspire some degree of envy. The difference is that Mary makes herself accessible through her blog and the comments so a lot of the negative aspects of human nature rear their ugly faces (Jim--I'm looking at you).

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and nothing with Mary is off-limits. My confusion revolves around why people feel the need to be so negative in general. Since when does posting a picture of you getting your hair done inspire such vitriol? Are people really that discontent in their own lives that they feel compelled to attack someone just for living their life in a public way?

The people who write negative comments seem fundamentally unhappy with whatever you do--they don't come to your blog to learn or entertain themselves, they come because they take pleasure in berating you. It's like if you don't like a movie--are you going to go and write hate mail to everyone who was involved? If you think that Mary is such a flawed person, don't support her by reading her blog. Who are you to think you can "call her out" on things or change her perspective on life? She's offering up her candid view--it's "take it or leave it" as she says.

As for the money questions--Mary is a public person, not a publicly-traded company. You're not entitled to know how she finances (or doesn't finance) the things she does.

@Marshmallow I don't remember Prada doing the hats, it doesn't seem like Miuccia's aesthetic but I don't follow women's European fashion as much as I follow men's. Can definitely imagine it would be expensive though.
