It is not true that cotton and biofuel crops do not end up as grocery store sales. Cotton seed oil is often used in food. Also, cotton hulls are fed to livestock. Likewise, soy meal from biodiesel production goes to livestock. About 30% (by corn kernel mass) of corn acres that go to ethanol production still ends up in food since the gluten and fiber portions of the kernel will go to livestock and the oil portion often will go to food.

I wonder if they will tax the gold coins issued by the US Mint? Since they are legal tender, they are exempt from sales tax... even here in Illinois, which finds a way to tax everything.

I don't know if this has been posted, but in the ObamaCare bill they added an amendment that will make you declare gold coin transations to the IRS starting in 2012.

Supposedly it goes into the ways the dealers play games in the market. That is really all I want to read in Forex. I'm not a big fan of "systems". I do my own charting and it is working out really well so far. I just draw lines a chart. I don't use any indicators or anything, and I only trade EUR.

I'm actually pretty worried about it. I will have my survival plan ready to go once fall 2012 rolls around. That includes lots of gold and silver coins, ammo, and ways to make food in my basement.

I think the most likely cause of things going to hell is the 2012 solar flare. Funny thing is, Texas is pretty much cut off from the rest of the US power grid, so they WILL be the first ones up and running if things go to hell.

Sugar crops around the world haven't done well either. I like that because we are exporting high fructose corn syrup now. Usually HFCS was a US only thing.

The fundamental reason the grains are rising is because the hot weather is not good for yields right now. We had a great start to the planting season, followed by heavy rains. If you drive through the midwest, you can see spots where the rain pooled up and killed off the crop. Now the hot weather is affecting pollenation. At the start of the planting season, it looked like we might have had the largest crop ever because the start was so good. Now, not so much.

Can't wait until the new book comes out, Tim. This will make my last 6 books in a row from John Wiley and Sons. I find it funny because they pretty much publish all chemical engineering texts these days and all the good finance books.

What an awesome day! I'm riding the INTC fade right into OPEX nicely. I did a buy write with the $21 calls right before the annoucement. ADM, my only long is up. Can't wait until the Direxion starts flooding the market with sell orders in 30 minutes to rebalance.
