Since pit bulls are so inherently dangerous, and since MILLIONS of pit bulls live in our country, why are there NOT thousands of attacks every day, Thomas? Pit bulls are one of the most popular "breeds" to have in our country:

They are also a very mis-identified and vilified breed. A lot of cherry picking goes into reporting dog attacks. In the same city, it has been shown that an attack by a dog labelled as a pit bull will be reported all over the media, but a very similar attack by a different breed won't receive more than a mention or two outside of the city it happened in. There is more variation in personality WITHIN ONE BREED than there is across breeds. ALL DOGS have the ability to be dangerous. Small dogs have killed children. Big dogs can be gentle as a lamb. If you think there are only certain breeds capable of being dangerous you are MUCH more likely to be attacked, because you will not be assessing each dog as an individual and you will very likely have your guard down around a dog who may be dangerous, just because the dog isn't a pit bull.

Are there dangerous pit bulls? Of course -- just like there are dangerous dogs of EVERY SINGLE BREED. The vast majority of pit bulls are loved and loving family pets who will NEVER hurt anyone. That is why there are not thousands of pit bull attacks every day with MILLIONS of pit bulls across the country. Your head ain't just a hat rack, Thomas. Try using your brain for once!

Hmmm, I must have a really weird pit bull, as do my MANY friends who all have pit bulls, some multiple pit bulls in the same house! Somehow every single one of us has a friendly, loving, dog-friendly pit bull! How many pit bulls do you know, Thomas? I've walked in several parades with multiple pit bulls -- never had a problem. If you go to my FB page you'll see tons of pictures of my pit bull cuddling with her favorite kitten -- but I'm sure she'll snap any minute, right? You're an idiot.

The least-desired side effect of FP in my house is one-handed typing. Often I will be sitting on the bed with my laptop, typing away, when one of my 2 boys comes to lay on my lap. Oftentimes, he will strategically lay atop at least one of my arms--and so when I get over the initial distraction and try to go back to typing, I find that only one hand can reach the keyboard. I have typed many messages one-handed. It's slow-going and tedious work, but it's a fair price to pay with a purring, furry little angel sitting on me and radiating love.

As an animal lover who does not dress any of her rescued animals up, and as a 9 year vegan (and 4 years as a vegetarian before becoming vegan) I don't understand how you can call yourself an animal lover, but say the torture of an innocent, helpless cat does not outrage you. Are you alright?

Just because millions of cows, pigs, sheep, and chickens are murdered in this country every year for food, just because millions of animals from mice to chimps are tortured in vivisection in the name of pseudo-science, does NOT make this torture of one cat any less of an atrocity. Perhaps I am just too caring--I grew up with cats, and I have two of my own rescued boys. If anyone laid a fucking finger on them with anything beside love and respect they can be sure they would regret it the rest of their days.

I do not think torturing a cat is any more or less ethical than torturing a pig, or a chicken. But I do think they are both EQUALLY deserving of outrage.

And to dismiss little boys who murder animals as them attempting to "learn about life"???! Are you kidding me? Is there no other way to learn about LIFE? I shudder to imagine you as a parent. Really. I know plenty of very intelligent, sweet kids who seem to satisfy their curiosity about life without torturing cats, dogs, frogs, etc. Studies have REPEATEDLY shown that children who torture and kill animals are much more likely to grow into violent adults who hurt children, women, and others. Almost all serial killers mutilated animals as children.

And by the way, PETA sucks ass. They euthanize hundreds (perhaps thousands) of animals every year, even with a budget of millions of dollars. I've seen local grassroots groups who do WAAAAAY more for the cause of animal rights with meager, crap budgets than PETA could ever dream of doing with their ridiculously embarassing campaigns.

Renewing your PETA membership is NOT synonymous with a passion for the rights of non-human animals. You've demonstrated this quite clearly.
