Dr. Smith did teach level 2 English and as a former student of her L2 English class I have to say that I was far from impressed. She did not care to be there. She put in minimal effort. She was very unpleasant to be around and made learning a chore. My guess is that when you're teaching L2 classes your expectation is that you're doing little more than pushing a bunch of losers through the system. There's no reason to care or try. Well more often than not level 2 students aren't what you think. I'm an attorney.

To Haverhill Parents opposed to this ridiculousness: Talk to any Methuen parent and we'll bring you up to date really quickly on how we got this thing scrapped. No matter what Chris Gabrielli tells you, this thing is a debacle in virtually every other community its currently running in and it would be in Haverhill too.
This is nothing more than short sighted administrators trying to get some quick cash at the risk of the integrity of their school system.

oh yeah, those 6 hour work days are murder. The teachers at my son's school show up at 8 and when I get there to pick him up at 3 many are leaving. Add in lunch and 'specials' and you got yourself a 6 hour work day- 7 max. Overtime.... get over yourselves...

I have the kind of career that allows me to be there to pick up my kids. I chose it. I changed my life to become a parent- something not enough people do.
Its nice that you consider my children brats. I'm going to assume you're a teacher and if so your attitude is the reason many kids think school=jail.
People who work hourly get overtime. Teaching has never been an hourly job. Teachers knew that when they took the job.
This is no different than those pretentious losers in Andover that bought houses abutting 93 that forced the state to put up a wall because its too noisy.
You knew what you were getting into when you took the job. if you don't like it or it doesn't pay enough, GET A DIFFERENT JOB!

I had an issue like this a couple years ago with a gas station in Lowell. I called my CC co and was told that as long as they tell you UP FRONT that they're charging more than its totally okay. I accepted this as fact until what Chris just said. Thats interesting...

Well if ever the Tribune needed a reason to discontinue commenting on articles, this will certainly cover it.

A man died. It wasn't suicide, therefore it was an accident. A lot of people are hurt by this. Those who aren't are being as critical as anyone else is when someone who meant nothing to them turns up dead.

Still, it was pretty awful of Joe to come in here, see the fact that this guy's family was posting, and then go and trash him. Class act.
