I think Facebook is a positive thing. I'm attending UT for grad school, and I moved here from the Northeast. Facebook has allowed me to keep in touch with friends and family back home. My busy schedule (and theirs) doesn't allow me to call once a week or write letters, it is more convenient to write quick messages here and there...let's me (and them) know I'm thinking of them. After my parents graduated high school, they didn't keep in touch with friends. Marriage, kids and jobs distanced them from their friends. I think Facebook will make our generation a more friend-friendly generation, because it will allow us to keep in touch with friends no matter how hectic our lives get.

Re: TNJN - Ladies, tell us what you want for Valentines

a Snuggie!

Re: TNJN - SGA proposes a wet campus policy

I agree. If UT becomes a wet campus, some residence halls should be strictly those under the legal age; therefore, alcohol is still banned.

Re: TNJN - SGA proposes a wet campus policy

What happened to all the comments from earlier?

Re: TNJN - SGA proposes a wet campus policy

I'm interested in knowing what the university's reasoning is behind UT being a dry campus? Because where I attended undergrad, it was a wet campus. Yes, it was a much smaller school, but I don't recall there being any problems while I was there. I think most drinking problems involve illegal under-age drinking.

Re: TNJN - Think it - Speak it!

Well, I am from Pennsylvania, and in PA, students don't have any programs like the HOPE scholarship. I know New Jersey doesn't either because my husband is from there. But Georgia has something similar to Tennessee, and I think Florida has a program too.
