They waked in with printouts of a different company asking me to explain the software licensing, it wasn't even my company! The entire audit was based upon that, but since they were there why not go thru all my records for the last 3 years... I'm sure we'll find something!> > Link: <a href="http://bryan.disqus.com/my_new_friends_the_sales_tax_auditors_68/#comment-345689>" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" title="http://bryan.disqus.com/my_new_friends_the_sales_tax_auditors_68/#comment-345689>">http://bryan.disqus.com/my_... > --> You may reply to this email to post your response. Maybe NY hires a buch of idiots but down here in the Police State of Virginia they hire auditors to make them money. They are so serious about making money they hire only the best. I know of a few VA Tax Auditors who now work as consultants for the big 4 accounting firms. Do you think for one minute that Price Waterhouse hires idiots just to give away deep six figure incomes. DO NOT MAKE THE SERIOUS MISTAKE OF THINKING YOUR SMARTER AND CAN OUT SMART THESE AUDITORS. Most of VA's auditors are now approaching retirement age which translates to 25 years plus experience at sticking it to you. They have seen it all. Your best bet is to find a CPA or Attorney who has lots and lots of experience with State Taxation (if you think you will have problems). Do not settle on just any CPA as probably 75% do not have a clue when it comes to S&U Tax audits.
