Maybe this is their cure? They can't figure out how to scale the site during times of MAJOR access (like Doctor Who episodes, Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, and Game of Thrones) and so they're making a bunch of users leave because there's no point anymore.

That's because android has a huge list of permissions out of order without highlights when you install an app now, so you can either agree to all of it or none of it, whereas apple lets you say "sure, this app will indeed ask for gps data, but you can selectively disable it". Sounds better than "this app wants to use gps data for it's ad delivery service and you can either install it and provide said data or not install it". I like apple's granular option better.

Think like a hacker. Would you really try to support the guy you honestly support, or would you make a joke? There were some videos of TF2 griefers back in 2008 that made people promise to vote for Ron Paul in order to leave the spawning area. The griefers didn't necessarily support Paul, but it was the funniest option at the time. It'd be like saying "Vote for Mike Gravel".

You only partially have it right. You can't downgrade because each install asks apple for a special key that only works for your phone. If you haven't saved those keys (and if you get the message that you're not eligible, it's too late, they aren't being served anymore), then you're completely out of luck. Forget jailbreaking sites, forget downloading old builds, you're finding the car but you don't have the keys to turn it on. This is why you should always, ALWAYS use an app like TinyUmbrella to back up your keys every time a new upgrade comes out, EVEN IF YOU DON'T JAILBREAK, it allows you to downgrade should you want to.

But hey, the anti-jailbreak hysteria (it exists, sadly) has people saying they want to remain within the walled garden forever, so they don't need it. It's preventative maintenance, just giving you the option to do so if you want to. I have several keys I'll probably never use for my phone, and I actually get keys for old phones I sold already just to keep them on file in case the person who bought it suddenly wants to downgrade/unlock and then tries to blame me/return the phone, it allows me to say "ah hah, well, I have your solution!"

You're missing 2 price points, a $149 locked iPhone 4 16gb and a $199 locked iPhone 4 32gb, still available from Verizon (you just have to go to upgrade, not straight to iPhone 4S upgrade). This adds an ability to get 32gb of space for $100 less or 16gb for $50 less if you don't care about Siri.

When Apple fails to release a rumored product, all that happens is "it was totally gonna happen but they changed their mind at the last minute" type posts. The iPad 3 was gonna launch today, but they decided not to at the last minute, etc.

According to a retweet by @ericasadun , the iPhone 4S was originally posted as a _joke_ months ago, not a serious 'rumor', based on the previous 3G and 3GS.

You do have two days... for $4. Or three days! For $6. Four days! $8. Beat a $60 game in under 30 days? You saved money... if you don't plan on ever playing it again.

Depending on how long games take to get to you from gamefly and how far away your redbox is (factor in gasoline! at $3.50/gal a car that gets 25mpg is adding 28 cents per mile of distance from your home (14c per mile there, 14c per mile back)... so if redbox is 5 miles away, and you're at 25mpg, you're really paying $2.80 in addition to the $1 per night ($1.40 to get it, $1.40 to return it, unless you're achieving more than just a get/return).

Hence: Netflix/Gamefly may be cheaper.

Remember Bing cashback? I was able to use my AAA discount link after loading the page with bing cashback, and somehow magically got both $10 in cashback and $10 off with AAA, which wasn't supposed to happen. This was with FTD. I think later they figured out that stacking discounts isn't a good thing.

For example, I had bought some $5 off coupons for a 'toasty' sandwich shop, I think 5 coupons for $20 or so. Made it worthwhile. They tried to tell me that since I was using a coupon, I couldn't order a combo because it gave me two discounts. Later they called their manager and he said to treat it as a gift card and give me the combo price, but still. The question here is: is groupon selling you a gift card at a discount price, or is groupon selling you a coupon which can't be stacked?

If it's a coupon which can't be stacked, FTD is completely within their rights to say "no combining discounts" and removing the 'sale' discount before adding the coupon discount.
