There's always a silver lining though we know Fred would rather head down to the Modell's pawn shop [yep, another branch of same family] across from their Midtown office and hock the silver so he can keep his team.
This collection ranks as one of the worst Mets teams, ever.

Now cometh the spin. Can't talk pennant races or playoffs like many big-market teams. So we talk trades. We start trashing players - Wright a couple weeks ago, now Ike Davis. Trade 'em all - since there's no money in the Wilpons' Mets corporation pot, so they say, the only chattel left are the players. Call me in March 2014 when all is said and done.

The quality of MetsBlog Spinning [TM, patent pending] is about the same as the team's on-field performance. Full of fundamental errors, thinly staffed, cheap. And their owners once hoped for 18% yearly return on their investments with 3.5 million fannies in in the seats. Onward to the NFL, as there's no Significant September Baseball here. My Lord, how could The Franchise and Dwight Gooden be left out of any list of 200 strikeouts per year Mets?

We'll have a whole off-season of the patent pending, soon to be trademarked Mets Blog Spin. Sickening, isn't it. Whenever the Mets are discussed, it all boils down to how much money the Wilpons' Mets corporation can spend on players. Due to lousy ticket sales, discounted tickets, etc. there isn't much $ on the balance sheet. Combine that with the cold, hard fact that the Wilpons' Mets corporation bit off more than it could chew in building Debits Field and starting up SNY, they've got a lot of debt to pay. The numbers are all public thanks to Irving Picard and others, so there's no speculation here. The Wilpons may have to add more partners into the ownership group that are out of the Wilpon-Katz family to keep their dream afloat.

Of course. Faith & Fear site worth about $1 more than this one. That $1 means it isn't affiliated with any Wilpon enterprise, with the exception of its owners being mere fans of the Mets. PS: Debits Field isn't mine by a long shot. Beat out Taxpayer Field, TARP Field, and Bailout Ballpark by a long shot.
