One thing i disagree with is “you don’t need PR at all if you have a great product. “. The number of products i have come across who don't receive enough traction simply because they haven't or dont know how to get the message out is ridiculous. Good Product does not equal PR success, it requires work, it requires help and it requires a real push to make sure the right people are hearing about your great product.

Otherwise, i'm with you 100%. :]

@Aaron, irrespective of whether we come across it on a day to day basis. The fact that this kind of mentality is still out there is nothing short of disgusting & vile...and we should all be doing absolutely everything possible to eradicate from online, offline and everything in between.

I listened & unfortunately watched parts of the discussion - and like Louis... I was stunned. It was filth of the lowest form & yahoo, google, microsoft and every other internet service provider out there should put this up there in their top list of priorities to not only eradicate the language using more powerful filters, IP blocks etc...but also using other means, like possibly giving charities & organisations who work against this kind of thing every day free advertising across their networks and more platforms for them to voice their campaigns & values which most of us stand by.
Something has to be done about this it was disturbing and even more disturbing to watch live. And Louis you're right - Corvida & Wayne deserve a hell of a lot more respect for what was a well put together discussion.

Looks absolutely brilliant I have to say. I'm think we might even create one to explain to the masses exactly what we do at WeDoCreative. From the look of it, after having only just watched the video (am on my iPhone writing this) it doesn't look limited either...so that anyone could tell of was created using the webapp. Being online too I'm sure will bring an array of cool sharing options.

Definitely appreciate your point here but I think let's put business & the whole personal brand thing aside and consider things solely on a personal "getting to know you" basis. You don't think hiding your first name, age & sex have a negative impact on the development of relationships with the people you get to know on the sites you choose to network on? Or can I assume that developing relationships isn't what you're looking for? (btw, forgive me if I'm not explaining myself well...I am absolutely knackered).

I'm trying my best to keep the lists to a minimum. I'm actually going to stick mainly to the main feed. I'll have a 'favorites' list which is similar to your 'offline' one, another list for cewebrities & then one final list for people in UK & Europe. I really want to make an effort to get to know more web geeks in my neck of the woods so that's one of the ways I'm using to make it happen.

Fantastic post Cyndy. Genuinely hard to come across posts on social media that I find interesting tat the moment - but this did it. You're so very right about Linked-in too...and although I've got a decent network on there, I've got to figure out a way to actually use the site as a 'daily social network'. Maybe a good topic for your next post? :)

All great points, however if they could just bring on Point number 1 (mini profiles) and also import of friends from other services (mainly twitter really)...I'd be pretty satisfied.

I do definitely like the idea of PM's too though actually & duplicates are most definitely something that should be taken care of.

As a consumer & web worker I am super excited about the prospects of this. We use mostly google webapps at our company & the idea of them being built directly into the browser is fantastic. What's more, knowing googe they will ensure they have the basics right before adding all the hoopla & visual magic - and because it's google, frankly I don't mind. At least we know it'll be fast, efficient & reliable...particularly as it's basred on Webkit.
What's more - and Louis, you'll see this in an upcoming post I'm doing for RWW - I have a firm belief in the browser being the new platform of choice & as people people have been saying today...Google feel the same way. I thoroughly thoroughly look forward to the watching this develop as well as the reaction from Firefox & IE. (Frankly, I think it's game over for IE and another brick crumbling in the Microsoft Wall.

Congratulations Duncan. I can't believe it's only been 4 Months?! It's an integral part of my news reading day now.
With regards to the RSS - i don't want to sound patronising, but it's very difficult to even see where the rss link is and very little mention of it really on the site apart from at the bottom posts - and I've always found people seem to ignore them except in actual readers - then it becomes a little more noticeable. Anyway, just my thoughts - you guys have done an amazing job. Oh and also i'm really sorry for the delay with a recent post, I think it should do great for you though & will be with you hopefully by the time you're up.

I gotta say, the only feature i have been using much is Genius - and you're right..it is a sales tool but in terms of creating fantastic playlists, it really does that for me. I'm hearing tracks that I didn't know I had yet obviously want to hear and in terms of similarity in tempo & style...it nearly always gets it right.
