Hey Mike C, yes it is quite possible to do well with short brandable domains. Take DotSauce for example. In promoting this website virtually 100% of the time I affix the words "Domain News" to my link title which secures me a strong ranking for that keyword.

Hey TigerTom, thanks for your comment. I am aware that Google does look down upon tactics such as this. However, I am encouraging contest entrants to write a unique post with varying anchor text. This way it won't be apparent.

Also, not alot of people are entering the contest so I am not worried about it.

Thanks for your comment Ian. Right now I park my portfolio at Bodis, so far I am doing well there with custom templates/image design.

When I decide to develop a domain I will first market it to bring traffic and secondly add affiliate links as well as AdSense. I don't like to go halfway between parked and developed.

Jordan Kastler: Generally I would agree with you, but it has a large following and some semblance of an aftermarket. I personally do not own any non-dot-com domains, but I don't want to discourage those enthusiasts.

Daniel, if you do your homework it is still quite easy to catch expiring LLLL.com domains or backorder them. Alternatively you can buy a half-decent one for around $25-$35 on one of many domain industry forums.

Bruce, thank you for your comment. I am a premium subscriber to DDD. If you are serious about getting the best pick of names I can confirm that a good percentage of each list is taken by premium members before standard has a chance.
