IMHO that is largely irrelevant. Especially in the modern era. The focus is and should be on the customer or the market. If you think about how the companies have gone who focus on beating the competion you will see that there is a sameness that creeps into that market only to make room for an innovator who doesn't give a damn about what abnyone else is doing.

At best it is worth keeping an eye on the competition as a means of 'researching' new developments.

Re: Gary Vee and the Empire of Favors

Here is the exception that proves the rule:
My company is involved in training and reciprocity is one of the famous Cialdini principles we espouse.

The ONLY audience where there was no acceptance or adoption or understanding of this principle was amongst long-term unemployed. (The training is funded by the government in an attempt to boost employability)

These groups of (mostly) long-term welfare recipients do not believe or practice or recognise this principle - not even amongst friends. All I can think is that they have received so much for so long that the sense of entitlement overpowered their sense of reciprocity.

Re: Most People Won't

@tannerc You really want to know why? The truth is the collective wisdom of the 'crowd' in most cases exceed that of a singel 'teacher/trainer' anyway. Social learning is the manifestation of learning that taps into this wealth of knowledge that exists or that the group is willing to find out for itself .

(Same force that drives Wikepedia to be better and more accurate than top-down Encyclopedia Brittanica)

Smart companies tap into this because it already happens. (when a worker leans over the desk of a colleague to ask them how they do something - that is social learning.)
The challenge is for compnaies to make sure this learning is 'right' and what is required and not unacceptable shortcuts that may compromise safety or brand.

The tools now exist to do this, but somehow companies still belive talk-and-chalk is the way to go when it is less than 10% of learning.

Re: Online training launched at Discount Drug Stores

It is absolutely the right way to go - congratulations.
