I agree entirely. The point of whisky is that it's a flexible drink and can be mixed, iced, and splashed. It's about knowing yourself and your preferences. I typically drink mine neat, but love adding in a little bit of ice sometimes. It changes the flavor entirely and it makes a wonderful drink a little more unexpected.

What I got from this poem (Rumi is one of my favorite poets) wasn't so much the issue of knowing one's self (though certainly necessary) as much as the importance of not going back to sleep - being aware and acting on that awareness.

Indeed. Neil Gaiman is great. I love the animation, too. Also, I want an adventure with wolves, witches, eagles, and a beautiful princess at the end. I'd also really like a Happily Ever After, too. :)

Part of it is the articulation of it all. One of my favorite books distinguishes between the canyon-esque gap between saying that which we think we mean and that which we really mean.

The distinction matters; being able to distinguish matters.

The feeling of cleanliness and awesomeness that is the result of using a q-tip is unmatched. In fact, I'd put it on a top ten list of great feelings of being alive.

Also on that list? Beer on a summer day, Beer after a long day, Beer at noon, and let's also not forget getting into a bed of clean sheets after a long day of beer drinking.

My grandmother seems to have shifted from asking me about girlfriends and grandkids to focusing on my younger siblings instead. I am unsure how to feel about this.

Haven't heard this stripped down version in about two years. The song itself is one of the first songs of Adams' that I ever heard and it's been a favorite since then, often reserved for sunrises in the summer when one is lost in thought.
