Classic! He got me fired up and ready!

Re: 10 Days to Mandela Day, 10 Ways to Make An Imprint

Mandela Rolihlahla Madiba was a political activist in South Africa who stood up against the social injustices of apartheid, a form of racial segregation, imposed by the colonial government. In his (and many others’) efforts to encourage social change and fight for a united democratic government, the leadership during that time found “reason” for him to be arrested. As a result, in 1964 he was condemned to life imprisonment. He was released 27 years later and became the first truly elected president of South Africa!

Over the years, Nelson Mandela has transformed from a local South African political activist to a global human rights activist who is recognized, loved and respected worldwide. Even in his retirement, he continues to fight for many causes at a tender age of 90 (soon to be 91 next Saturday, July 18, 2009).
This is a human rights activist who has the capacity to forgive beyond human measure. He has made his imprint for 67 years, now it’s time to make your imprint for 67 minutes. Now we call out to all global citizens to lend “their own two hands.” We love you Madiba!
