How Best to Save Them?

This is a good article, but I am so tired of hearing about the 10am rule. The fuels build up we see today is the outcome of the environmental movement's influence on the USFS to implement (initially) well-intentioned policies to use the ESA to protect spotted owl, stop logging wholesale, which shut down hundreds of timber mills. The forest grows twice as fast as you can cut it, so Rx fire isn't enough. Fuels need to be removed mechanically. There's no other way out of this mess for the next 30-50 years folks! The problem we have now is there aren't the mills to process the timber that needs to come out. They've gone. They won't come back because they cannot receive guarantees on the amount of harvest they need to operate successfully with. Whatever bad the white man did from 1900 to 1970 has been completely inverted by the do-gooders since then. And here we are.

Re: H-Town United: An Unlikely Soccer Power Rises in Texas

How are there no pro teams scouting them? There are at least 100 now. Odd. Let's hope we don't see the next variant until after spring. A really bad omicron-type surge in August would be my vote for perfect timing!

Re: Omicron is Almost Omi-Gone — Book Your Living Wage Cleaning!

Great post! We happily paid our cleaner not to come when the pandemic was at its worst and we are so happy to have her back with us! It's time folks. They just tell all the junk mail people about it. My last move, I didn't even tell the post office I moved. I painstakingly contacted every important company and person I moved with the new address. Left no forwarding address with anyone. I feel bad about all the junk the new tenants are getting, but I had to break free.

Re: “DC Government Employees Will Be Required to Get Vaccinated Against COVID-19”

That's an awful lot of conservative Republicans working for the DC Government.

Re: Thursday 4.16

There are a few comments that should be made. First of all, I agree with the comment regarding this being a strata of our society that has been left behind. I have been using this choice of words for some time. More to the point, they are a group that seems to me to have missed out on either the late 80's growth period, the 90's growth period--or both.

Many of these people are educated. However, they nonetheless feel disenfranchised. They feel powerless. There were still others there who are scared of falling off the ladder.

There have been comments here lambasting these people because they got or will get a tax cut from the Obama Administration. If that person was paying attention, they would have seen most, if not all, the protesters were concerned or angry about debt. They know that spending more and taxing less isn't correct. They want less taxes, but they want even less spending.

What I found impressive, and of concern, was that this many people could rally in Boise not in support of a candidate, a person but an IDEA. Getting people to turn up to support an idea is a huge difference and much harder. For people without the brains, they managed this.

I am concerned for our nation. In 25 or 50 years people may look back to this point in history and point to now when frayed edges became clear splits.

Who here can argue that doubling or tripling of the money supply does not amount to debasing it? It certainly is without precedence in our history. Why can no one be concerned or express the concern as they have done here in Boise yesterday?

Fascinating commentary.
